Assignment of
Rotation Sites
In general, clinical
sites are to be within a four-hour drive of Roanoke. But any rotation you want
that is farther than a one-hour drive from the Roanoke Valley area must be
approved by the Clinical Coordinator. These decisions will be made on an
individual basis.
- All requests for rotations go through the
Program; you are welcome to talk to doctors and PAs about doing rotations
with them, but you must clear it with the program. This includes the final
rotation, the Clinical Concentration.
- The Clinical Coordinator and Program
Director reserve the right to deny sending a student to any particular site
based on the student’s academic performance, evaluations, strengths and
offerings of the clinical site, or any other reason.
- If you wish to change a rotation assignment after the arrangements
have been made, you must give the PA office at least 6 weeks' notice.
NEW CLINICAL SITES
- New clinical sites are to be no farther
than a one-way driving distance of four hours from Roanoke.
- If you wish to work with a new preceptor or
hospital, you must give the Barbara Williams at least six months’ notice
to process the paperwork and verify licensure of the preceptor.
- It is your responsibility to ensure that
all paperwork and information about the clinical practice and preceptor are
completed and returned to the Program within six months.
- The creation of a new clinical site must
have positive ramifications for the Program—the preceptor should be open to
accepting additional students for future rotations.
- The
preceptor for the new site may not be a relative of the student requesting
the creation of the new site
