All
students, regardless of rotation location or subject, MUST return to campus
at the end of each rotation to:
- Take the end-of-rotation
exam.
- Turn in written materials.
- Receive detailed reporting
instructions for the next rotation.
EOR seminars consist of discussions, presentations,
and workshops designed to enhance your clinical experience and prepare
you for professional practice.
Specific content depends on the developing needs of the students.
EOR activities include the Community
Medicine Rotation transition meeting, which is required for
students who just finished the Community Medicine Rotation and students
who are going on this rotation next.
At an EOR in March or April you will participate in the
PACKRAT exam (Physician Assistant Clinical Knowledge Rating and
Assessment Tool), in addition to the usual EOR exam.
Failure to attend an EOR
may result in a failing grade for the rotation.
You will take
a written exam on campus at the end of each rotation. The EOR exam tests
knowledge of the clinical subject matter and medical procedures encountered
in that rotation. Format and content of the EOR exams reflect the PA
National Certifying Examination (PANCE). Although a rotation may not provide
experience in all topics or procedures tested, you are still responsible for
knowing the material.
During each rotation you should be studying
the topics in the Study Guides. There are two
exams each for the Family Practice and Internal Medicine rotations, one at
the end of each month. The EOR examination at the end of the Elective
Rotation is on the topic of Infectious Diseases.
Students must score 70% or higher on the EOR
exam to pass the rotation. Students who score below 70% are required to take
another exam on the same material with the month. Students who score 70% or
better on the retake exam are given a final exam score of 70%. Students who
fail the second exam earn a failing grade for the rotation and are required
to repeat the rotation.
In addition to the topical EOR exam, you
may take a quiz on a topic assigned earlier in the month.
