CLASS OF 1999
The Program's Charter Class

The first of its kind in Virginia, the CHS Physician Assistant program enrolled its charter class in August 1997.  These students were graduated in August 1999 with a BS degree.

The men and women who make up the Charter Class  are a mature and experienced group. Their average age is 30. Fourteen come to the program with a previous bachelor's degree, and four with an Associate in Science degree.

All  had prior experience in hands-on health care, averaging 5,000 hours, or 2 1/3 years, per student. They have served as EMTs, medical and doctor's assistants, CNAs, registered nurses, registered dietitians, dialysis technicians, paramedics, respiratory care practitioners, athletic trainers, health care educators, and military medical personnel.
