Hello everyone! I hope that you guys had a wonderful summer. J Let’s see, I guess I’m supposed to tell you all a little about myself…so here goes! I’m 23 years old and graduated from Hollins University with a BS in Biology in 2001.  Since then I have been working on my pre-requisites at CHS and working full time as a Certified Pharmacy Technician. I’m engaged to a wonderful man (to whom I was supposed to marry in March, but had to postpone because of a car accident that I was in) and have no kids except for our dog Lucy. Other than that, there’s not much to tell other than the fact that I’m very much looking forward to meeting each of you in the fall! Please feel free to contact me anytime.
Justin Nolen
Hello to my fellow students! I hope all is well and that everyone has had an enjoyable summer vacation. My name is Justin Nolen, I am 25 years old and currently live in the southwest portion of Roanoke, I am originally from Fieldale, Virginia, which is a small town about 45 minutes south of Roanoke. I enjoy music, weight training, fishing, hunting and various outdoor activities . I attended Bridgewater Collage, where I earned a BS degree in Psychology. I am looking forward to meeting you all and embarking on what I believe will be a learning experience and adventure.
Isaac O'Dell

Hola,

My name is Isaac O'Dell.  I am 22 years old, and I graduated from Lincoln Memorial University in May.  While at LMU  I earned a Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology and an Associate's degree in Chemistry.  I ran cross country for the Railsplitters all 4 years I was in attendance (glad that's over).  I am a board certified Medical Technologist, and I am very anxious to
further my medical education in CHS.  I love everything outdoors. I snowboard, race on a sponsored mountain bike team, rock climb, wake board, and attempt to play golf on occasion.  I'm a fun lovin' guy, and I live life to its fullest!  Can't wait to meet everyone.

Tammy Peters

Hello all new PA students.  My name is Tammy Peters and I am truly delighted to be a part of such a wonderful opportunity with you. I am former Special Education teacher, actually just finished up my last year teaching recently. Currently, I live here in the Roanoke Valley. I just purchased a townhouse not too far from College of Health Sciences.  God has brought me this far and he will continue to lead me to His will for my life. In my spare time, I enjoy working out at the gym. I attend church regularly.

I would love to hear from you, so please feel free to send me an email.  Until August …… Wait that is just right around the corner. TPeters384@aol.com

Jennifer Richardson
Hi!  My name is Jennifer Richardson. I am 24 years old and graduated from Appalachian State University in 2000 with a BS in Chemistry. I am originally from Boone, NC, but my husband, Kevin, and I have been living in Charleston, SC, for the past year. We recently bought a home in Roanoke, and I am eagerly awaiting the start of classes in August. Kevin and I enjoy spending time with Maggie, our very energetic black lab, and Callie, our calico cat. I also enjoy scrap booking, cross-stitching, quilting, and have just taken up knitting. I look forward to meeting everyone in the fall.
Eric Sawyer

Hi. My name is Eric Sawyer. I am 28 years old. I am originally from Virginia Beach but currently reside in Havelock, North Carolina. I have been married for eight years and have two girls. Erica is 5 and Maddie is 2.

My medical experience consists of 5 years as a corpsman in the Navy. I am currently a General Contractor, which I have been doing since I was discharged from the Navy in 1998. I decided to get back into the medical field so I chose to become a PA because it is the closest career in the civilian sector that matches what I did while in the Navy. I love contracting though, so I will probably continue to do that on the side after graduation.

My hobbies are surfing, hunting, fishing, and just about anything as long as it pertains to the outdoors. I love hot weather and I don’t know how I am going to survive the winters there in Roanoke.  Snow and I don’t mix too well.

I am extremely anxious about starting PA school in August and can’t wait till that time comes.

My email address is johnathansawyer@yahoo.com

Andi Southard
Hello my fellow classmates,

My name is Andrea Lynn Southard, but I go by Andi. I am originally from Los Altos, California, (near Stanford University) but have been living in San Diego for the past year. I graduated from the University of California Davis in 2000 with a BS in Exercise Physiology and a minor in Psychology. I decided to stay in Davis until 2001 in order to complete my internship hours for becoming an athletic trainer and to get my certification as an EMT. Although I had many career opportunities, the world of physical therapy kept calling my name. So for the past two years I have been working a s a physical therapy aide doing inpatient and outpatient therapy. I am looking forward to moving on with my career, and once a PA I plan on specializing in orthopedics.

I am a bit nervous, but extremely excited to start my new life in Roanoke, I have never lived outside the state of California, so I'll need some advice on how to survive the winters. Soccer has been my life for the past 20ish years, so if anyone plays or just loves to run and be outdoors...I'm your girl! I also have an amazing boyfriend Ryan, who as been tremendously supportive, but will not be joining me in Roanoke. I look forward to meeting you all. Cheers!

Mia Spangler
Hello, fellow PA newbies! My name is Mia Spangler and I have been at CoHS for 3 years. I live in Roanoke now but am originally from a small speck called Patrick County. I work at CRMH as an NA on the Cardiac Surgery Intensive Care Unit.

I am looking forward to starting the program but hate to leave my family, cat, and boyfriend, Wally.

If anyone needs anything, do not hesitate to let me know. strspang@hotmail.com. See y'all soon.

MacKenzie Thompson

My favorite sport is football. However, I refuse to declare a team :) I enjoy most outdoor activities. My favorite activity is running, and golf is a close second. I spend a lot of time at the gym so if anyone wants to go let me know!
Take care and I will see you all soon!
