| Rachel Bostic | ||
| . |
Hello to the class of 2003! My name is Rachel Bostic. I am from Honaker, a very small town in the southwestern tip of Virginia, with a population of well below 1,000. My hobbies include horseback riding, 4-wheeling, and spoiling my two-year-old sister. I also enjoy watching and playing sports, especially basketball and softball. With a little motivation I enjoy working out as well. I love my family and friends and spend as much time with them as possible. When I was a junior in high school my Mom introduced to me the idea of becoming a Physician Assistant. After I saw a PA for a physical and spoke with her about the profession, my mind was set. Five years later, here I am. I look forward to meeting all the classmates, building friendships, and reaching our goals together. rbostic@mail.chs.edu |

| Michele Haman | ||
| I moved to Roanoke in January of 2000 to pursue the PA program. Before moving to Virginia, I lived in Tucson, Arizona, for 17 years and attended the University of Arizona. I enjoy all sports, including water and snow skiing, hiking, tennis, volleyball, and anything outdoors. I enjoy watching football, baseball, and NCAA basketball. My favorite thing to do is travel. I have had the opportunity to live all over the country and three years in Spain. (My father was in the Air Force.) The most important things in my life are my family and my dog, Boston (a miniature schnauzer). mhaman@mail.chs.edu | ![]() |

| RoseAnn Holmgren | ||
| I began life
in Quincy, Mass., in a military family, which means that I don’t
really have a hometown, I’m just sort of a “native of nowhere.”
I can remember wanting to be involved in medicine from a very young age,
but never having the confidence to pursue a medical career. Most
of high school was spent in Woodbridge, Va., and from there I continued
on to ODU in Norfolk, Va. One of the odd jobs I picked up while I
was there turned into an unusual career. I worked for Brink’s,
Inc. for eleven years before meeting and marrying my husband, Gary.
While he ran a retail store in Appomattox, Va., I attended community
college in Lynchburg where I did quite well. We moved to
Blacksburg in 1996 and I obtained a BS in engineering from Virginia
Tech. During my junior year, I had the opportunity to take part in an
internship in biomedical engineering with Carilion, where I shadowed
physicians in countless areas of interest. It was then that I
confirmed my love for medicine and decided to pursue the career of my
dreams. My husband and I currently live in Blacksburg with our two cats, Felix and Oscar, but will be moving to Salem at the end of June. rholmgren@mail.chs.edu |

| Hello. I'm Brian
Killen from Clintwood, Va. I grew up in a military family, so my
childhood consisted of moving every other year. All together I've lived
in eleven different states and two years overseas in England. I enjoy
working out, music, dancing, and every water sport known to mankind.
My background is in radiology and nuclear medicine. I've been employed at Bristol Regional Medical Center in Bristol, Tenn., for the past five years, the last three as a surgical radiographer. It was here in the O.R. that I first came to know about the PA profession and it has been my goal since. bkillen@mail.chs.edu |
