Links to Migrant Farmworker Resources

Virginia Rural Health Resource Center (VRHRC) and Virginia Rural Health Association (VRHA) VRHRC provides technical assistance, facilitates rural health research and collaborates with various public and private organizations to identify and address rural health issues in the Commonwealth, thus ensuring access to quality health care for all rural Virginians. VRHA is the leading voice for rural health in Virginia.
Rural Retention and Recruitment The national Rural Retention and Recruitment Network, a coalition of state rural health organizations that promotes opportunities for rural health care providers.
National Rural Health Association (NRHA) A nonprofit association of individual and organizational members who share a common interest in rural health. Links to abstracts from the Journal of Rural Health, full text of issue papers adopted by the association, and a variety of other publications on this topic. Lists rural health events and NRHA conferences, and information on the Migrant Health Care Fellowship.
HHS Rural Health Policy The Department of Health and Human Services's Office of Rural Health Policy
Natl. Assoc. of Rural Health Clinics The National Association of Rural Health clinics (NARHC), which promotes the delivery of high-quality cost-effective health care in rural underserved areas through the Rural Health Clinics (RHC) Program.
Natl. Health Service Corps

The National Health Service Corps, which recruits health care professionals to work in underserved areas. Scholarships are available for students who commit to a period of service. Sponsored by the Health Resources and Services Administration.

Partnerships for Training (PFT) 8 regional consortiums of nurse practitioner, certified nurse-midwifery, and physician assistant programs that are using distance technology and satellite campuses to extend the geographic reach of their educational programs with a goal of increasing the number of primary care providers in underserved areas of the United States.
Southwest Virginia AHEC The mission of the Southwest Virginia Area Health Education Center is to promote health careers and access to primary care for medically underserved populations through community-academic partnerships.
Clinical Regional Advisory Network (CRAN)--Region II Professional network that  provides clinicians with a vital support system. CRAN facilitates recruitment, retention, and career development opportunities for health care professionals committed to providing care to underserved communities in Region III (Delaware, District of Columbia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia). 
National Lab for the Study of Rural Telemedicine NLM grant program at U of Iowa sponsors this program that provides slide presentations on telemedicine topics and a newsletter.
National Agricultural Safety Database (NASD) Safety, health, and prevention of injury in agriculture, including OSHA and EPA standards, extension publications, abstracts, ordering information for agricultural safety-related materials, a directory of people and organizations involved, and more. 
National Rural Health Services Research Database A database supported by the Federal Office of Rural Health Policy of funded research rural health services research projects in the US. Searchable by project funder, research institution, principal investigator, project title, and keyword.
Rural Family Medicine Created by the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine Rural Interest Group, Web site provides links to rural health topics under its Rural Practitioners section, as well as bibliographies. Rural Educators section provides a compilation of teaching strategies on rural health topics and links to issues in rural medical education.
Rural Information Center Health Service (RICHS) Part of the National Agriculture Library's Rural Information center, RICHS disseminates info about rural health issues through publications (some full text), funding information, conference announcements, and extensive list of Internet resources. Brief complimentary database searches are available.
RuralPSYCH Resource Center for Rural Behavioral Health. This APA site provides a list of APA-accredited psychology internships and graduate programs in the US and Canada that deal with rural issues.
