CLINICAL MEDICINE I

This course is the first in a sequence of three courses that examine diseases and disorders commonly encountered in primary care practice. Diseases covered this semester include:

  • Dermatological disorders

  • Head, ear, nose, and throat disorders

  • Eye disorders

  • Cardiovascular disorders

  • Pulmonary disorders

  • Psychiatric disorders

  • Renal Disorders

Each disease or disorder is described in terms of pathophysiology, clinical presentation, diagnosis, and treatment. Attention will also be given to primary and secondary methods of disease prevention. Diseases will be reviewed from the organ system approach in coordination with other courses in the clinical core (Clinical Anatomy and Physiology, Clinical Diagnostics, Clinical Pharmacology, and Clinical Skills).
