This course is the second in a sequence of three courses providing a practical evidence-based approach to clinical diagnostic testing and pathophysiology in the primary care setting. Students will learn how to order, perform, and interpret the results of diagnostic tests and imaging studies most commonly used in primary care. Fluid balance and electrolyte abnormalities will be covered, with special attention given to identifying the underlying pathophysiology that results in abnormal test findings. Students will learn the indications for, sequencing of, and interpretation of results in test and studies commonly used in the diagnosis of renal, hepatic, pancreatic, endocrine, and hematologic diseases.
