This course is the
second of two courses designed to foster the development and
application of knowledge concerning the interrelationships of
health, illness, culture, and behavior for prevention, diagnosis,
treatment, rehabilitation, and health promotion. Behavioral Medicine
II focuses on community-oriented primary care (Identifying and
addressing the health problems of a defined population) and its
complements to the function of clinical care (individual health).
Community-oriented functions presented in the course are:
- community partnership and leadership
- community assessment
- community diagnosis
- treatment and intervention
- evaluation.
The
student is required to complete a course project for application and
development of competencies on the community-oriented primary care
and health promotion.
